I would prefer to grow aeroponically . please let me know if we can grow vegetables aeroponically outdoors

Yes, they will grow outdoors if the temperature is warm enough, but you will have problems with evaporation drying the roots out.

Answer by bapesta
Absolutely! As long as you provide a light tight container/area for the roots, light prevents root development. Also, you will either need to be willing to consistently hand water OR you will need a source of power and some water pumps to say the least. I would suggest a modified version of something called an ‘Internal Reservoir Bucket’ for an easy hydroponics system. You should also check out what are called ‘Bio Buckets’ which can be modified for use in hydroponics and aeroponics. Also, bacteria is the key to successful hydroponics, so research different Michorizal innoculents.

Trace elements are usually what goes wrong, brown leaves is usually a Boron problem, or manganese, zinc, iron, copper, molybdenum, chlorine (yes, all plants need really small amounts of chlorine), sulfur, magnesium, and cobalt.

This is where hydrop fertilizer gets really expensive. You can’t have these minerals in regular fertilizer form since it’s the soil microbes that break them down into what the plants can use, so no soil, no microbes. You need them in their purest form, but that takes energy and hence the high prices.

This is the matrix, you cannot be told, only shown. Unlike the matrix you must show yourself thru trial and error. The first 3 to 10 attempts are to teach yourself what NOT to do, so that when you know that, you can do everything right the next time.

Start at wikipedia, in the hydroponic article. Follow every link and learn everything you can. Then put it into practise. Then start over when you fail. The matrix wants you to give up. Never give up. Profit cannot occur until you’ve succeeded in learning everything that can go wrong and doing what it takes to avoid it.

You may need a special grow light to get the best results. Check hardware stores.

Answer by TXm42
Light,Temperature,Ventilation

Lighting Cycle is important,,,plants need dark periods as well as light,,especially when they are small

The Type of light also matters,,in terms of “bandwidth”–The COLOR of the light.
Blue range light makes lottsa foliage.
Red range light makes roots and blossoms.
Thats a gross Oversimplification.

A common household-type flourescent light is “Too Blue”
And regular incandescent bulbs are “Too Red”

Airflow also has an effect.
Ventilation.
Plants are opposite of people(Hard to tell sometimes,,I know;)

They INHALE Carbon Dioxide that we Exhale.
And,,they EXHALE oxygen,,,that we inhale with air.

Plants without much ventilation sorta “Suffocate” in oxygen they fill a space with.

Temperature is also a factor.
Most all plants have a certain range they favor for growing,,,blooming,,seeding,,etc.

Tomato plants for example,,,they’ll grow year round in many climates where it doesnt freeze.
But they’ll stop producing tomatoes when temps get outside a certain range.
The plants can be fine & healthy & growing like weeds—but No Tomatoes.

Check the details/requirements for the specific type plants you’re growing.
Very possible they are out of temperature range.
It’s Interesting,,,Many plants are Very sensitive to temp—they hit a certain point within just 2~3* and it’s like flipping a switch.

If you have your project in room,,,like your bedroom,,,,
open a window a short time during the day for ventilation

Might check your water temps too.
Water in hydroponics gets colder than dirt in a potted plant–in a given environment.
Dirt/ Soil always has a sorta self-warming humus effect,,,that hydroponics doesnt.
If your water temp is below about 70*F lots plants dont wanna grow.

It’s a tedious balance sometimes to get all the various factors into a favorable range.

Just some Ideas

Good Luck!!!

Tomato plants grown in Growstones and Rockwool 30 hours without ...

10 month old TOV plants growing in an hydroponic greenhouse at The University of Arizona in Tucson show first visible signs of wilting after 30 hours without water in a typical monsoon weather (from August 1 at 6:15 am to August 2 12:15 pm, 2007). Tomato plants were grown in two types of Growstones slabs [large and small pore size, referred to as Earthstone 2 and 3] and compared with plants grown in Rockwool Expert slabs. First visible signs of water stress were noticeble at the same time in all cases. Since Growstones are a drier hydroponic substrate than Rockwool, this result might be due to the fact the drainage wholes in Growstones was 2 cm from the bottom of slabs, allowing for some water storage while in Rockwool it was closer to the bottom of the slab. The cloud cover present during the day also contributed for the long period without any visible signs of water stress (wilting). 1 year later ***************************************** Great to get these many comments and questions. I really appreciate the interest, curiosity or. whatever you wanna call it. So let me see if I can clarify some of the questions related to the plants. In this video, what you are looking at is a mature indetermined tomato crop growing inside a greenhouse in Arizona. In indetermined tomato plants, three leaves are initiated between two successive fruit trusses, continuously. This means that the growing tip of the plant is always developing new shoots, which develop into leaf and flower
