Hydroponic gardening ?
Question by Kit Wong: Hydroponic gardening ?
I’m a 15 years old boy and I quite love gardening. And i saw it at one of the show at the discovery channel. Can I simply practice hydroponic gardening just using a bottle, add some water and dip the plant into the water ?? Or i must add some sugar into the water and get a pump that pump air into the water ??
Can i put some fertilizer ?? i mean water that have fertilizer dissolved in it ??

In addition to the pump, you wiull need nutrients. Plants need more than sugar.
Look online for liquid nutrients. The Aerogarden is a great way to get it all ready-made.

you can use a 5 gal bucket 3.00
an aquarium pump and air stone 7.00
a bucket topper mesh pot 5.00
enough hydroton to fill the pot 1.50
fill the bucket with water to a few inches of the top
place the air stone on the bottom
put on the top and verify water level about 2″ from top
put it hydroton and turn on pump
you should see small bubbles coming up
now plant your started plant
use hydroponic nutrients in the water
change the water every 2 weeks
run the pump constantly good airflow is vital
you could grow a beanstalk with a set like this
this technique is called deep water aquaculture
Hydroponic Gardening?
Question by bull_23_dog: Hydroponic Gardening?
WHen using a top drip feed system how often do you set the pump to deliver the water/nutrients up to the top of the plant, and is it possible to drown them, over feed them if they are in an expanded clay pellet medium? How often for each stage, seedling, vegetative, and flowering? Using Flora Series Nutes! Thanks

This all depends on what type of plant you are growing.

big question is what plant are you growing …. seems like the funky ganja ??? lol … if so … u cant really over feed or drown it because the trip system aerates the water so its rich in co2 and plants love that either threw roots or leaves … during the day u can feed all day or set it up so it feed only 3 times a day for 30 mins a time … preferably all watering’s should be done when lights come on so the plant can use and absorb all the nutrients threw out the day ..(no night feedings!!!) the plant rests at night it sleeps just like us … and with the flora series nutes id do 50% more nutes then what is on the bottle depending on light …(50% more if u have 600w light…..25% more if 250w …….under floro tubes stay at what is recommended by general hydro… hope this helps
